Transforming Lives in Nyamonye: The JUMIIS Story

In the heart of Nyamonye, Bondo Constituency, where poverty, limited access to education, and social inequality have long defined opportunity, JUMIIS is rewriting the future—one household at a time.
For years, many children in this community—especially those living with disabilities—faced barriers to education due to lack of learning materials, trained teachers, and inclusive support systems. At the same time, teenage mothers struggled to rebuild their lives, often trapped in cycles of poverty with limited access to income or skills.
JUMIIS stepped in with a bold, community-driven approach.

Strengthening Education Systems
Through partnerships with local schools and stakeholders, JUMIIS has improved access to relevant, age-appropriate learning materials in local languages, ensuring children can learn effectively.
At the same time, teachers have been empowered through continuous professional development programs—equipping them with modern teaching methods and inclusive practices.

Impact so far:
1,800+ students reached with improved learning materials
75+ teachers trained in modern and inclusive pedagogy
10+ schools supported across Nyamonye and surrounding areas

Empowering Teenage Mothers
Through its Household Economic Strengthening (HES) model, JUMIIS is giving teenage mothers a second chance—transforming vulnerability into opportunity.
Participants receive:
Business and financial literacy training
Access to savings groups
Support to start small income-generating activities

Impact so far:
350+ teenage mothers economically empowered
200+ small businesses started or strengthened
70% of beneficiaries reporting increased household income

Championing Inclusion for Children with Disabilities
JUMIIS is deeply committed to ensuring no child is left behind. By working closely with families, schools, and communities, the organization promotes inclusive education and support systems for children with disabilities.

Impact so far:
400+ children with disabilities supported
Increased school enrollment and retention rates
Improved community awareness and acceptance of disability inclusion

Building Resilient Communities
Recognizing that education and empowerment do not exist in isolation, JUMIIS extends its work into the broader community—supporting families to create stable, nurturing environments for children.

Impact so far:
2,500+ individuals directly impacted
15+ community initiatives implemented
Growing network of local and development partners

The Bigger Picture
